I wouldn’t deny anybody their income for delivering good value. But I cannot conceive as to how anybody could believe that $A455 represnts value for an o/s for a home PC.

Simon makes a good point about some of the content of Home Premium – I could live without Microsoft’s DVD burning/movie making software. I guess I’ll have to look to see what other parts are left out of the lower versions.

TBH, if Aero Glass is all that’s on offer, I reckon I’ll just wait… (And yes, I know there’s lots more ‘under the hood’.)

Reading up on the various Vista versions in APC Oct 06, the strange thing is that Home Basic excludes DVD Burning, DVD Movie Maker and the Aero Glass GUI. Providing a nice opportunity for Dell etc to offer the “upgrade” to Home Premium for a few $$$.

Seriously though, the upgrade market is not expected to be huge, and the thinking is the vast majority of home users will get Vista when they buy a new PC (and pay a LOT less than that amount).
Also, Home Premium is not what most home users will end up with – more like Home Basic…
